Philanthropy N The Black Podcast

Your Host Celly Cel

Marcel McGee isn’t your typical nonprofit executive. He’s part fundraiser, part strategist, part storyteller — and fully New Orleans (9th Ward to be exact).

From New Orleans to Nonprofits
A proud U.S. Navy veteran with more than 30 years in the nonprofit trenches, Marcel has spent his career helping mission-driven organizations stay alive, grow smarter, and keep their promises to the people they serve. From military service to donor strategy, he’s seen the hustle and the dysfunction of philanthropy up close.

Service & Strategy
By day, Marcel works in executive philanthropy leadership. A Master’s graduate in Nonprofit Administration, his real education came from decades inside campaigns, crises, donor meetings, and nonprofit chaos.

Why This Podcast
By night? He’s the voice behind Philanthropy N The Black — where nonprofit culture gets unpacked with honesty, humor, and zero corporate fluff. The show explores the survival of nonprofits through a lens rarely heard: unapologetically transparent and culturally grounded.

His Philosophy
His philosophy is simple: Nonprofits should stay in the black — financially, socially, and morally.

And if they don’t? He’s probably talking about it on the podcast.
